Whistler Village's Beer Festival adds a blind tasting event, "Master Crafters: Haze Craze, presented by Grimm’s Fine Foods" during this year's festival.

July 30, 2019, WHISTLER, BC – Master Crafters will be returning for Whistler Village’s Beer Festival’s seventh anniversary and this year the future is looking hazy. Master Crafters: Haze Craze, presented by Grimm’s Fine Foods, will challenge choice breweries to bring their best hazy brew to this blind taste test competition, where all the fancy branding will be stripped away. Equipped with only tasting notes, alcohol percentage and IBU, attendees are encouraged to try a sample of each unidentified hazy beer throughout the evening before casting their vote for their favourite. At the end of the night, we unveil each brew and crown the winner.
“This event has been a fan favourite since it first started in 2016,” says Katrina Frew, Director of Festivals & Events at Gibbons Whistler. “Breweries are always eager to participate in this event, because it is an even playing field and attendees are judging on taste.”
Registered WVBF breweries can submit any “Juicy or Hazy Pale Ale”, “Juicy or Hazy IPA”, or “Juicy or Hazy Double IPA” for consideration. The winner of Master Crafters: Haze Craze will win a prize pack, courtesy of Grimm’s Fine Foods.
Master Crafters: Haze Craze, presented by Grimm’s Fine Foods, takes place on Friday, September 13, 2019 from 7:30PM - 10:30PM at the Longhorn Saloon. Tickets are $30 and include 8 four ounce beer samples and samples from Grimm’s Fine Foods.
In addition to this signature event, WVBF’s Main Event will feature 70 Breweries, and over 140 different craft beers and ciders, complemented by food trucks, games, and more. The festival that started it all, Whistler Village Beer Festival, will be returning with six-days of beer-fuelled fun September 10 - 15, 2019. Signature events such as Craft Cultures and Master Crafters will be returning with new fun themes and other events such as Tap Takeovers, food and beer pairing, and more will be announced in the coming months. The Main Event will be on September 14th and 15th at Whistler Olympic Plaza and feature 70 breweries with over 140 beers and ciders.
