Reuben's Brews takes second overall after receiving four gold medals and one bronze, at this year's U.S. Open Beer Championship.

Press Release

Seattle, WA - July 18, 2019 - The awards keep rolling in for Reuben’s Brews. The fan-favorite Seattle Brewery placed second overall at the 2019 U.S. Open Beer Championship- winning four gold medals and one bronze medal. The second-place overall is the most successful showing for Reuben’s to-date at the US Beer Open, which has won more than 200 medals for its innovative beers since opening in 2012. The beers are part of the brewery’s rotating limited-edition and annual offerings on tap.

  • “We’re passionate about creating beer that’s unconstrained by conventions and that is always balanced and delicious,” said Adam Robbings, co-founder of Reuben’s Brews. “We certainly don’t measure our success by awards, however we couldn’t be more excited about the amazing reception our beer has received by the craft beer community. It reinforces we’re on the right track and motivates us to continue to push the boundaries to deliver one-of-a-kind, memorable beers.”

This year’s U.S. Open Beer Championship saw more than 7,000 beer entries across more than 130 different styles. Representatives from the U.S., Canada and England judged the competition blindly, only knowing what categories they were reviewing, but no entry information.

Reuben’s gold-medal-winning beers represent a variety of stylings throughout the brewery’s portfolio and include:

  • Chocolate Box: Hazelnut Praline Imperial Stout - 14% ABV - The first in a series of barrel-aged beers inspired by chocolate truffles, this stout is aged on hazelnuts, cocoa nibs and whole vanilla beans after aging in bourbon barrels for almost a year, resulting in a silky, rich bodied beer. Released in 2018.

  • Triple Crush - 10% ABV / 60 IBU - The Triple IPA version of their popular Reuben’s Crush series of hazy IPAs. Thickly hopped and juicy, with delicate balance for a big IPA.

  • INK - 8.1% ABV / 63 IBUs. This Imperial Black IPA has a bold citrus and floral hop profile on top of moderate roasted malt and caramel flavors.

  • Triumvirate - 6.0% ABV / 52 IBUs - this juicy, light-bodied IPA has notes of grapefruit and passionfruit. Triumvirate is the house IPA for Brouwer’s Cafe, Bottleworks, and The Burgundian restaurant in Seattle.

  • Three Rye’s Men - 12.2% ABV - Three Rye’s Men is a barleywine with three different types of rye, aged in a blend of rye whiskey and bourbon barrels. A perfect sipper for the dark winter nights.
