Attention homebrewers, today's the day to register for the The Cosmic Chance Homebrew Competition

If you fancy yourself a competitive homebrewer or someone who is a Hazy IPA clone away from opening your own pub, then you'll probably want to visit the Kalama Harbor Lounge.

Announced this past Tuesday, McMenamins Brewing is hosting a friendly competition between you and other like-minded homebrewers. All that is asked of you is to stop in on June 7th between 6 and 9 pm for a submission party. Wanna learn more? Here is the boilerplate from the brewery hosts.

Calling all homebrewers: here’s your chance to have your homebrew commercially produced for our Inaugural Kalama Harbor Brewfest on Saturday, August 10! We’re hosting a drop-off party where you can meet our McMenamins brewers and submit your (previously registered) bottled homebrew for judging. There is a limit of four submissions per person, with a registration fee of $10 per entry, to be paid upon registration. This competition is open to any amateur homebrewer age 21 or older. Entries cannot contain THC, CBD, cannabis terpenes or any illegal substances. The competition organizers are not responsible for mis-categorized entries. The winner will be announced on June 21.

Dubbed The Cosmic Chance Homebrew competition, the brewery would like to remind you a few details.

1. Registration is only required once but you can return and enter more beers or edit the ones you've already entered.

2. As of yesterday's announcement, there were already 14 entries.

Rules (as duplicated from the website)

  • This competition is open to any amateur homebrewer age 21 or older.

  • We are accepting the first 100 entries.

  • All entries will be picked up from drop-off locations the day of the drop-off deadline.

  • All entries must be handcrafted products, containing ingredients available to the general public, and made using private equipment by hobbyist brewers (i.e., no use of commercial facilities or Brew on Premises operations, supplies, etc.).

  • Entries can not contain THC, CBD, Cannabis Terpenes or any other illegal substances.

  • The competition organizers are not responsible for mis-categorized entries.

  • The competition organizers reserve the right to combine styles for judging and to restructure awards as needed depending upon the quantity and quality of entries.

  • Judges will evaluate and score each entry. The average of the scores will rank each entry in its category. Judges will be brewers and/or employees of Mcmenamins.

  • Brewers are not limited to one entry in each category.

  • The competition committee reserves the right to combine overall style categories based on number of entries. All possible effort will be made to combine similar styles. All brews in combined categories will be judged according to the style they were originally entered in.

  • The Best of Show judging will be determined by a Best of Show panel based on a second judging of the top winners.

  • Bottles will not be returned to entrants.
