Looking at the calendar, we’d say that you’re two days late on getting your hands on Baerlic Brewing’s latest canned releases. Oh right, you've not heard about Milo Oak Fermented Saison or Fuzz Box Hazy IPA. Well, here's the TL;DR for your consideration.

Visit the brewery get some!

If you're still with us, then here's the 411 on both beers.

Milo Oak Fermented Saison rings in at 6.2% ABV and hey, it was 2019's Best of Craft Beer Awards Silver Medalist.

Fuzz Boz Hazy IPA, on the other hand, is a modest 6.7% ABV and yeah, no medal yet.

What makes them different? Well, it's all in the ingredients.

Milo Oak Fermented is broken down like this.

  • MALTS: Weyermann Pilsner and Rye

  • HOPS: Oregon Grown Sterling

  • YEAST: House Saccharomyces Saison Yeast Blend

  • FLAVOR: Delicious AF…

While Fuzz Boz Hazy IPA, well, it's like this.

  • MALTS: Weyermann Pilsner, Wheat, Malted Oats & Rolled Oats

  • HOPS: Centennial (40%), El Dorado (20%) & Idaho 7 Hops (40%)

  • YEAST: Imperial Juice

  • FLAVOR: Delicious AF…

Still not convinced? OK. Here's a copy-paste racket from their recent announcement.

This is a complex little beer we lovingly call Milo. It’s an homage to the descendent critters that make up our house saccharomyces saison yeast blend. Fermented wholly in oak wine casks for a more expressive yeast character and a touch of woody dryness in the finish.

What makes saison such a subtly complex beer style is the expression of the yeast. To achieve the right balance of fruit and spice fermentation character—without overshadowing malt body and bitterness—takes a careful hand. By fermenting Milo wholly in oak and unbunged (i.e. no atmospheric pressure) our house Saison yeast blend is more expressive, more layered and simply more alive.

Saison in cans? WTF?

We believe Milo is a beer for everyone, so no cork and cage here. Saison's history begins in the French speaking part of Belgium where it was brewed specifically to quench the thirst of seasonal farm workers centuries ago. The dryness and subtle complexity of the style pairs perfectly with hard work, sweat and calloused hands. And we all know beer never tastes better than when you earn it, right?

This is a Limited Run, so get em before we drink it all.

The next release in our rotating Hazy IPA series, Fuzz Box is an overpowered haze of pineapple, mango, stonefruit, watermelon, candy, juicy fruit, sticky pine, resinous pitch, earthy black tea, duff, must, heavy metal, punk rock and stomp box…in that order.

Like they said, look for this now (at the brewery) and later throughout Portland.
