In less than two weeks E9 Brewing Company is set to open their doors on their newest location in Tacoma, Washington. As one of the areas grossly overlooked breweries and restaurants, E9 Brewing Company has remained a squirreled-away secret for locals and lovers of Shane Johns' creations. From the always reliable India Pale Ale to the Belgian-inspired Saison or Dubbel, the brewery remains a reward for those willing to tear themselves away from the ravages of Interstate 5 traffic.
Now comes word that the brewery is set to open their new brewery and taproom in Tacoma's Historic Brewing District. Located at 2506 Fawcett Avenue and just minutes from the Tacoma Dome, E9 Brewing Company opens their doors May 1st to those willing to make the trip to the taproom. When compared with the existing brewhouse adjacent to the converted Engine House No. 9 firehouse, E9's new brewery will produce more barrels per hour and store more barrels of beer than ever. Plus, the brewery will feature something lacking at their other location - a taproom.
Featuring floor-to-ceiling windows with a front-row view of the brewery, the new viewing stage will be near the barrel racks. In addition, during warmer months, the new brewery location will also offer outdoor seating in a fenced courtyard. Besides complimentary seating, the brewery's taproom offers 12 beers showcasing beers from the 15 BBL (Barrels) brewery.
In addition to seating and in-house consumption, the brewery taproom will also offer bottled, canned, and growler takeaway options for those on the way to their next party.
Finally, be on the lookout for complimentary snack options, ranging from locally-produced or sourced cheeses and charcuterie, small snacks, and sandwiches; all while allowing for the occasional local eatery to stop in and offer some variety.
Taproom hours are Wednesday - Sunday with the taproom and brewery being exclusive to 21 and over.
E9 Brewing Company's new location is at 2506 Fawcett Avenue and is minutes from nearby breweries 7 Seas and Black Fleet. For those looking for an expanded restaurant menu, visit their original location at 611 N Pine Street, in Tacoma, WA.
About E9 Brewing Co:
What started as a little brewery to supply the restaurant only back in 1995, Tacoma’s first craft brewery, has evolved from making standard pub style beers. They have gained attention and awards producing some of the best Belgian style farmhouse and mixed culture ales in the state. After an ownership change in 2011, head brewer Shane Johns began steering the brewery in that direction, and started one of the first barrel aging programs, focused on those styles of beers, in the Northwest. The barrel aged and fruited farmhouse/wild ales have consistently medaled at the Washington Beer Awards and the brewery has won “Best Mid-Sized Brewery” in the state the last three years running from 2016-18. This is in part by utilizing some of the best whole fruit and produce grown in the Puyallup Valley by Sterino Farms and some of the best orchard fruit from the hills above Lake Chelan grown by Diamondback Acres. While the brewery has moved locations, it is still part of the X Group Restaurant family and The Original Engine House No. 9 Restaurant remains in the historical 1907 firehouse it has been operating in since 1972. The restaurant will continue to have one of the more elevated tap lists and bottle selections in Tacoma, while continuing to feature E9 Brewing Co. Flagship beers and their limited offerings. Besides being self-distributed throughout Washington, E9 can be found in Oregon, California, New York, Massachusetts, Washington D.C., Florida and across the border in British Columbia, Alberta and Quebec. This is achieved by working with Shelton Brother Importers and their associated distributors.
