Hailing from San Diego, California, Alesmith Brewing Company is hosting a limited-engagement event at Brouwer’s Cafe.

Founded in 1995, AleSmith Brewing Company is a San Diego based artisanal craft brewery that specializes in handcrafted ales inspired by the European classics. Deeply rooted in the amateur and craft brewing communities, AleSmith ales have continued to garner both national and international awards. In 2015, AleSmith celebrated its 20th year in production by opening a new state-of-the-art brewery in Miramar at 9990 AleSmith Court (formerly Empire Street). “AleSmith 2.0” features an entirely new tasting room and brew system with the capability to pump out more than 100,000 barrels/year only two blocks west of the original location. Starting at 6 pm, guests can sip on Alesmith’s Mokasida Coffee Speedway Stout, Hawaiian Speedway Stout, Thai Speedway Stout, and their old-school Barrel-Aged Speedway Stout.

  • Mokasida Coffee Speedway Stout. Taking its name from both Mokha, a traditional port city fro the distribution of African coffees, and the Sidamo province in Ethiopia, Mokasida is a regional blend of coffees that showcases the subtle characteristics of east African beans. When paired with the cholate and roast character of our imperial stout, Mokasida imparts notes of cocoa, blueberry, and sweet potatoes to make a truly unique beer.

  • Hawaiian Speedway Stout. We often use Speedway Stout as a jet-black canvas for homages to things we hold dear, whether it’s artisan coffee, a favorite edible or sumptuous flavor combination. The most recent variation of our celebrated imperial stout honors the culinary character of the Hawaiian Islands by combining the lush sweetness of coconut with vanilla and Ka’u coffee. Named after the region of Hawaii from which it hails, Ka’u is produced from some of the world’s rarest coffee beans. Slow-grown beneficiaries of nutrient-rich volcanic soil and idyllic climate, Ka’u offers nuances of caramel and hazelnut plus a soft floral character, all of which marry seamlessly with natural sweetness from the vanilla and coconut as well as Speedway Stout’s inherently rich, chocolaty character. Say aloha to something truly exceptional and evocative of its namesake isles.

  • Thai Speedway Stout. Russian Imperial Stout with Coconut, Lime, Ginger, Lemongrass, Basil, & Coffee. Inspired by our brewers’ love of the assertive, bright flavors of Thai ingredients, this intensely flavored brew incorporates the vibrant quality of several Thai-inspired ingredients into our classic imperial stout. Powerful notes of citrus, botanicals, and tropical fruit balance the stout’s rich chocolate, caramel, and coffee character. The result is an amazingly flavorful and complex beer that pays tribute to the flavors of Thailand.

  • Barrel-Aged Speedway Stout. We’ve matured our Russian Imperial Stout in premium bourbon barrels for up to one year to create Barrel-Aged Speedway Stout, with the perfect blend of flavors. Notes of oak, vanilla, and bourbon add another level of complexity to this beer’s already massive flavor profile of chocolate, Ryan Bros. Coffee, and roasted barley. Designed to be enjoyed now or aged in the bottle for years to come, this special release is truly a unique beer that is smooth as it is rare.
