Watershed Pub & Kitchen presents the 4th Annual Alpenfire Cider Dinner, September 6th

Press Release

SEATTLE, WA – A very special preview to Seattle Cider Week, Watershed Pub & Kitchen presents our 4th Annual Alpenfire Cider Dinner on Wednesday, September 6th starting at 6pm. $60 per person includes gluten-free multiple course pairing dinner, drinks, tax and gratuity. Tickets are now on sale; space is limited.

Alpenfire Cider, Port Townsend, is a very unique and special cidery. Family-owned and operated, Alpenfire produces the west coast first organic hard cider, made from their estate and locally grown organic apples. The WSDA certified organic orchard was planted in 2003 with over 800 trees, 10 varieties of English, French and Early American cider specific apples, now just shy of 1,000 trees. The family initially learned cider making from touring cideries in England, France and Spain, and from English cider master Peter Mitchell. The high quality of Alpenfire ciders has been recognized by multiple awards. (For more about Alpenfire Cider: http://alpenfirecider.com/)

Our guests will have the opportunity to dine with the cider maker and to learn more about each cider served.

The pairing menu, presented by the Watershed Pub kitchen staff:
⦁    Starting with award-winning “Spark” cider (New World Traditional style), paired with caramel apple salad with walnuts and arugula, dressed in Alpenfire “Elderperry” vinaigrette.
⦁    Followed by “Glow,” a New World Traditional style rosé cider made from a unique red-fleshed apple. Served with pork belly with strawberry horseradish vinaigrette, bleu cheese and alfalfa sprouts.
⦁    Next, award-winning “Ember,” an Old World Traditional style cider made from estate grown late season French and English bittersweet apple varieties, paired with blackened salmon with beet puree and charred citrus
⦁    Alpenfire’s flagship cider, “Pirate’s Plank,” also award-winning and also Old World Traditional style, will be served with a shrimp cocktail with jicama, celery, citrus and Saint’s Spicy Ketchup
⦁    Finally, “Calypso,” a Northwest style cider with local blackberries added, will be paired with cannoli, sweet cream and berries.

Testimonial for previous Alpenfire Cider Dinner at the Watershed:
“I went to Watershed for their Alpenfire Cider Tasting and GF Food pairings, and what the experience!!  …We were treated to one of the best tasting menus I have had!  The staff was generous with the rounds of cider, and Alpenfire is not your run of the mill grown up Martinelli's.  Alpenfire uses the finest ingredients like organic apples, and their rep was fun and knowledgeable.  The Exec Chef and Team nailed the pairings--crispy cider with Cajun jerk pork--heaven!  I was thoroughly impressed with the plating and quality of the ingredients--seemed way above what you may think would be ‘pub food.’ “ (Tiffany H)
