In 2016 Chuckanut Brewery was the runner up for the Large Brewery of the Year at the WA Beer Awards and this year, 2017 they bettered themselves by taking home the prestigious Large Brewery of Year (over 2,500 bbls) with a record breaking eight awards. The fifth annual WA Beer Awards presentation once again took place at the WA Brewers Festival in Marymoor Park on June 17, 2017. This year there were 1,207 beers from 165 working breweries in WA state. The beers ranged over 64 categories of beer and was the largest single state professional competition in the US to date. WA state has 355 craft breweries ranging from super nano to regional.

Chuckanut Brewery’s Pilsner, Alt Bier and the new Filtered American Wheat all were awarded Gold medals! The Filtered American Wheat stands out as a beer made from Chuckanut’s South Nut neighboring farmers and malting house because it uses all Skagit Valley Malting grains. The Vienna Lager, Kolsch German Style Ale, British IPA and Doppelbock all received Silver medals. Chuckanut’s Dunkel Lager once again was awarded a medal, this time a Bronze. The Dunkel has received numerous medals from the WA Beer Awards, North American Beer Awards, Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Cup. Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen located at 601 West Holly St, Bellingham since late 2008 has been awarded the National Small Brewpub/Brewer of the Year 2009 and National Small Brewery/Brewer of the Year 2011 at the Great American Beer Festival (GABF).
