Lompoc Brewing redefines makeover with "Welcome to Lompoc, Oregon" branding campaign

Press Release

PORTLAND, Ore. – May 16, 2017 – Lompoc Brewing, a Portland mainstay for 20 years, has announced a new branding campaign titled, “Welcome to Lompoc, Oregon.” The campaign includes a tourism video created by the Lompoc Oregon Scenic Tourism (LOST) Division, established in 1997; the video can be viewed at LompocOregon.com.

“We constantly get asked why we're named after a city in California, and why we pronounce it lom-pock when it should be lom-poke,” explained Lompoc owner Jerry Fechter. “This campaign brings the focus to our brand and emphasizes the idea that Lompoc, Oregon is a state of mind; you won’t find it on any map, but if you’re here, then you're already there. Lompoc, Oregon is a gathering place for neighbors and locals to relax over a few pints, enjoy delicious food, socialize and make new friends.”

Added Fechter, "Lompoc, Oregon can be whatever and wherever you want it to be. Take a six-pack of Proletariat Red cans camping, and you’re in Lompoc, Oregon. Bring a growler of C-Note to a BBQ, and you’re in Lompoc, Oregon. Or watch a Timbers match at Sidebar with a pint of LSD; you’re in Lompoc, Oregon.

The campaign, which includes posters, T-shirts, and stickers, also introduces a Pint Club loyalty program. Pub visitors can request a card, in which every purchased pint receives a punch; every 50 punches are redeemable for rewards, and raise the cardholder to the next level. The status levels reflect the people who make up Lompoc, Oregon: Local, Townie, Proletariat, Diplomat and Royalty.

Mission Expedition, a Portland agency that crafts media and messages to locate, engage and motivate customers, designed the whimsical graphics that bring Lompoc, Oregon to life.

The campaign was unveiled at a press conference at the brewery’s Sidebar pub earlier this evening. Special guests included Sir Pamplemousse, who stands for fun and tomfoolery; and Proletariat Red, who embodies the working class of beer drinkers. Both characters represent two of Lompoc Brewing’s most popular beers.

The event ended with a celebratory group toast with glasses of Lömpocker Hoppy Kölsch – the official beer of Lompoc, Oregon – that literally means “of or relating to Lompoc;” and a welcome address to everyone in the room, the official first citizens of Lompoc, Oregon.
