If you're like this writer, then you've no doubt enjoyed your fair share of this year's Fort George 3-Way IPA.
Brewed in conjunction with Reuben's Brews and Great Notion, Fort George clearly produced a hit when they birthed this beer upon the world. As it turns out the beer didn't just inspire a few fans, it also inspired a certain brewery to brew more of this beer style commonly called New England-style IPA. But this is all in the past as the last few cases, of 3-Way, were sold weeks ago and the brewers involved have disbanded. For now, assuming another collaboration between this trio doesn't occur, one will have to satisfy their craving for NE beer, by visiting Seattle's Reuben's Brews or Portland's Great Notion. Fortunately for those in Seattle, you won't have to drive down to Portland, at least this November 8th.
Starting at 6 pm, Seattle's Brouwer's Cafe in the Fremont neighborhood will play host to Great Notion Brewing and their unique style of beers. Draft list is listed as TBD on Brouwer's Cafe's Facebook page but it will no doubt include Great Notion hits like:
Blueberry Muffin, a sour ale which will "... remind you of your Grandma's freshly baked blueberry muffins!"
Juice Box IPA, an Imperial IPA described by the brewery as "Bursting with pungent American hops, with aromas of peach, mango, and passion fruit."
Obviously, this is only a sliver of the beers you can find, if you're willing to visit their brewery in Portland. Which makes their visit one not to be missed.
Finally, the brewers and owners at Great Notion want to let thirsty supporters from Washington that they are not officially distributing their beers in the state. So this is definitely an opp. not to be missed.
Doors open at 11 am with Great Notion beers pouring at 6 pm. For more information, including updates to Brouwer's Cafe's draft list, visit their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/events/796276830552961/.
