Brewery News: OR: Portland: Ecliptic Brewing announces menu changes in their pub

Press Release

Portland, Ore. ... Today, Ecliptic Brewing’s Chef Michael Molitor unveiled the Mississippi Ave. brewery’s newest menu. Like all menu changes at Ecliptic, the timing coincides with a major celestial event, in this case the Autumnal Equinox. The seasonal offerings celebrate the harvest and offer heartier dishes as we move toward longer nights.

“This is a large menu change for us, and I’m very excited to make use of abundant autumn vegetables,” says Molitor. “The equinox menu is a mix of totally new items, as well as the return of a few customer favorites.”

New seasonal menu additions include:

  • AUTUMN SALAD curly endive, black grapes, five year cheddar, sherry vinaigrette, breadcrumb
  • FRIED GREEN TOMATOES bay shrimp, dill
  • STEAMED MUSSELS tomato, pilsner, garlic, bonito, grilled sourdough
  • SMOKED ROOT VEGETABLES hazelnut romesco, sunnyside duck egg
  • PAN-ROASTED CHICKEN brussels sprouts, grapefruit, brown butter vinaigrette
  • BRAISED BABY BACK RIBS porter bbq sauce, fennel-cilantro slaw, creamed corn
  • CRÈME CARAMEL poached pear

Ecliptic Brewing is a reflection of founder John Harris’ co-passions of beer and astronomy, and the brewery takes its name from the yearly path the Earth takes around the sun.  The food program celebrates this journey through the seasons by rotating its menu every six weeks based on the old world calendar. Upcoming menu changes are planned for Samhian, Winter Solstice, Bridgid, Spring Equinox, Beltane and Lammas.

About Ecliptic Brewing
Ecliptic Brewing is a venture from John Harris, an Oregon beer icon whose background is steeped in the state’s rich craft brewing history. The name Ecliptic unites Harris’ two passions: brewing and astronomy, and as such, the brewery celebrates the Earth’s yearly journey around the sun through both its beer and restaurant menus. Executive chef Michael Molitor rotates his seasonally inspired menu every six weeks in accordance with the old world calendar. Harris’ signature beers include Spica Pilsner, Capella Porter, Phobos Extra Single Hop Red Ale and Orbiter IPA. In 2014, Ecliptic Brewing was voted best brewpub by Northwest Brewing News readers, and the brewery’s Filament Winter IPA was named favorite winter ale by Oregon Beer Growler.
