Brewery News: WA: Seattle: Introducing the "The Woods" reborn and expanded to 2,800 square feet.

Hiker, camper, lake swimmer, and man of the midwest. These are all words to describe Joel VandenBrink of Two Beers Brewing Company and the Seattle Cider Company.

Founded in 2007, Two Beers began in a rented storage unit, near Highway 99 in the Seattle neighborhood of Fremont. By 2008 Joel had outgrown the small 170-square foot space, and upgraded to a 340 square foot location. Like the previous spot this was short lived, and the brewery was again moved in 2009 - this time to the SoDo (South Downtown) neighborhood. Still growing in demand and with a steady stream of visitors, Two Beers opened up a tasting room to offer people an opportunity to stop in and sample the beers before filling up a growler.

Jumping ahead four years, with the opening of The Woods taproom, Joel and Two Beers finally had a much-deserved watering hole for visitors to enjoy a couple of pints, while enjoying takeaway food. With demand still climbing, The Woods and the brewery itself expanded in 2013, doubling capacity.

Which brings us to 2015 and the recent announcement yet another expansion, for both the brewery and The Woods taproom. Starting at 1pm, Saturday June 13th, Joel and the staff welcome you to come experience the expanded 2,800 square foot taproom.

Before entering The Woods (aka, The Woods 3.0), it's important to recognize all the hard work that has gone into this expansion.

Starting with the building's 'bones' - metal structures both inside and out were created by the folks at Bloch Steel. Just across the street from Two Beers / Seattle Cider's doorstep, the employees (in some cases) carried the various metal structures from their shop to the building. Next, the woodwork, both outside and in, were created and installed by a combination of Urban Hardwoods (courtesy Keaton and Tyler) and The Wrekin Crew (courtesy Jeremy Morris). To illuminate the interior, Resolute Lighting designed and installed the custom lighting throughout the space. Lastly the folks at Columbia Distributing assisted with designing and installing the new draft system.

Many no doubt will enter the new space and notice a missing guest. With tentative plans to install a commissary, Bread and Circuses will supply "The Woods" with such dishes as "Slammin Salmon Seattle Reuben", "Blackened Tofu and Mushroom Taco", or "Beer Can Chicken". Be sure to thank not only the various vendors, but also the staff of both breweries, particularly The Wood's Bar Manager Dan Armerding, and Joel VandenBrink, for providing Seattle's South Downtown neighborhood another place to relax, while enjoying a couple pints of local beer.

The Woods is located at 4700 Ohio Avenue South in Seattle's SoDo neighborhood.
