PORTLAND, Ore. … – Ecliptic Brewing, a craft brewery and restaurant in Portland’s Mississippi neighborhood, will on Feb. 14 from 11 a.m. through 4 p.m. host Zwickelmania events, complete with self-guided tours, beer sampling and meet-the-brewer festivities.
At Ecliptic’s Zwickelmania celebration, owner and head brewmaster John Harris will introduce his Orbiter IPA. Year-round and seasonal Ecliptic beers will also be available throughout the day, and the brewery will tap its barrel-aged Coalsack Cascadian Dark Ale and Capella Porter kegs at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. If guests are interested in trying these two beers, Harris recommends coming in early as when they’re gone, they’re gone. Chef Michael Molitor will be serving his regular seasonal food menu.
“Last year’s Zwickelmania celebration at Ecliptic was epic. In our first year as a brewery, we saw more than 1,000 people come through the door,” said John Harris. “We look forward to sharing this year’s festivities - including our new beers - with all of Ecliptic’s friends, both new and familiar.”
Ecliptic’s New Orbiter IPA: Ecliptic’s Orbiter IPA unites a constellation of “C” hops (Cascade, Centennial, Chinook and Columbus) to create a formidable India Pale Ale. Bright and citrusy hop flavors shine in a medium body with caramel malt character.
Zwickelmania, the annual one-day event in Oregon when breweries open their doors to the beer fans - both casual and hardcore - lands on Feb. 14. More than 100 breweries, both big and small, are participating with meet-the-brewer events and beer samples. Last year, more than 36,750 people toured 105 participating breweries statewide and the Oregon Brewers Guild is expecting that number to increase in 2015. About Ecliptic Brewing
Ecliptic Brewing is a venture from John Harris, an Oregon beer icon whose background is steeped in the state’s rich craft brewing history. The name Ecliptic unites Harris’ two passions: brewing and astronomy, and as such, the brewery celebrates the Earth’s yearly journey around the sun through both its beer and restaurant menus. Executive chef Michael Molitor rotates his seasonally inspired menu every six weeks in accordance with the old world calendar. Harris’ signature seasonal beers include Spica Hefepils, Procyon Pale Ale, Phobos Extra Red Ale and Arcturus IPA. In 2014, Ecliptic Brewing was voted best brewpub by Northwest Brewing News readers, and the brewery’s Filament Winter IPA was named favorited winter ale by Oregon Beer Growler.
