On Saturday, Dec. 20, Ecliptic Brewing will release its first barrel-aged beer, the Orange Giant Barleywine. Finding its inspiration in the upcoming solstice, Ecliptic’s Orange Giant Barleywine will bring warmth to the chilly winter days.

“All of us at the brewery have been looking forward to the awakening of our Orange Giant,” said John Harris, owner and brewmaster at Eclipitc. “After spending 10 months in 12-year-old bourbon barrels, this barleywine packs a big punch.”

About Barrel-Aged Orange Giant Barleywine
Like the blazing giant stars that inspire it, Orange Giant is truly massive. Three malts and copious amounts of Chinook and Nugget hops impart a creamy malt profile and resin hop character to the beer.
  • IBU: 70
  • ABV: 13.8%
  • GRAVITY: 24°P

Ecliptic is producing less than 70 cases of this limited edition vintage, and it will initially be available only at the brewery, in bottles and on-tap.

Ecliptic beers are served at the brewery (825 North Cook St), in bottle and on-tap throughout the area, and distributed by: Maletis Beverage (Portland, Salem), Bigfoot Beverage (Eugene, Bend, Coast), Click Distributing (Seattle, Tacoma) and Dickerson Distributing (Bellingham).

About Ecliptic Brewing
Ecliptic Brewing is a venture from John Harris, an Oregon beer icon whose background is steeped in the state’s rich craft brewing history. The name Ecliptic unites Harris’ two passions: brewing and astronomy, and as such, the brewery celebrates the Earth’s yearly journey around the sun through both its beer and restaurant menus. Executive chef Michael Molitor rotates his seasonally inspired menu every six weeks in accordance with the old world calendar. Harris’ signature seasonal beers include Spica Hefepils, Procyon Pale Ale, Phobos Extra Red Ale and Arcturus IPA. In 2014, Ecliptic Brewing was voted best brewpub by Northwest Brewing News readers, and the brewery’s Filament Winter IPA was named favorited winter ale by Oregon Beer Growler.
