Brewery Release: BC: Vancouver: Granville Island Brewing & "Chocolate by Gaya" collaborate to make chocolate.

Press Release

Vancouver, B.C. – In preparation for the holidays, Granville Island Brewing’s (GIB) brewmaster Vern Lambourne brings a different kind of small batch to the taproom with Chocolate by Gaya. The chocolate bursts with infused beer flavours from GIB’s winter seasonal, Lions Winter Ale, holiday small batches – Cocoa Loco Chocolate Imperial Stout and Barley Wine, and Hey Day Hefeweizen from GIB’s Under The Bridge series. The local collaboration makes for the perfect stocking stuffer, table dessert for good company and midnight snack this December.

“These four full-flavoured beers stand up to the sweetness of the chocolates, and offer complex flavour profiles to complement Gaya's creativity as a chocolatier,” says Vern. “Our beer-infused chocolates are locally-made, handcrafted and tasty – I even ate some for breakfast!”
Dreamed up by Vern and chocolatier Gaya Davidson, the four beer-infused flavours are:
Lions Winter Ale: Liquid caramel with hints of vanilla in a milk chocolate shell
Cocoa Loco Chocolate Imperial Stout: Dark chocolate ganache in a dark chocolate shell
Barley Wine: Flavours of mulled wine in a dark chocolate ganache held by a dark chocolate shell
Hey Day Hefeweizen: White chocolate passionfruit ganache in a white chocolate shell
“With some experimenting, we found the perfect balance of beer and chocolate flavor, and created four recipes that appeal to different taste preferences,” said Gaya Davidson. “This was the first time I’ve ever experimented with beer in chocolate - it proved to be an incredible pairing!”
The GIB and Chocolate by Gaya collaboration hits the GIB retail store on December 1 for $8 plus tax.
