The International Beer Competition (IBC) is the most prestigious beer competition to be held in the country and has been running annually since 1996. It is open to beers brewed anywhere in the world and provides the opportunity for international beers to compete against some of Japans finest craft and commercial brews. As with the JABC judges for the event are selected from Japanese brewers and members of the public who have successfully completed the "BeerJudge" certification programme (run in Japan by the BTO) as well as overseas industry professionals.
Hosted every year, the International Beer Competition invites breweries (throughout the world) to compete side-by-side against local (Japanese) breweries. And out of 99 categories, two local breweries from the Pacific Northwest, placed. Those two breweries were (Washington locals) Scuttlebutt Brewing and Schooner Exact.
Overjoyed by their recent win, the folks at Scuttlebutt reached out to the media and shared this press release.
