imageI'm going to be honest with you, I fucking hate the stereotype that Seattle only produces grunge music. This isn't the sum of Seattle's music history or reputation. In fact did you know that Jazz Legends Quincy Jones and Ray Charles once lived and performed in Seattle? And if you're one who subscribes to the Top 100 music chart, then you've heard of bands like Head and the Heart or (of course) Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. Maybe you've heard of Sir Mix Alot, Heart, or Jimi Hendrix. Yep, Seattle is a city consumed by grunge.

Stepping down from my soap box, I wanted to let you know that Penumbra is returning for 2nd year to remind you that beer AND music make for a kick-ass evening in the city.

First, what the f*ck is a peanut-bra? No! Penumbra!

(Definition-a partial shadow, as in an eclipse, between regions of complete shadow and complete illumination) – AKA the darkness that defines the silver lining.

We get sleepy in the winter. It is dark and cold and wet. We see less shows, see less of our friends, and conserve energy to use in those far-distant five days of summer. To hell with all that! Let's drink great local beer, dance to awesome music and celebrate the LAST WEEKEND of Winter in Seattle at a crazy underground events space strategically located right behind Mt. Baker Light rail.

Located at King's Hall (2929 27th Avenue South), March 29th, Penumbra kicks off at 4pm (for VIPs) with music, beer, and of course food trucks. I mean what's convenience without food trucks?! Tickets are on sale right now and I don't advise you to wait too long. Just pull out that dead-animal you call a wallet and buy a couple of tickets!

You still reading? I guess you deserve to learn about the music and beers being poured. From the promoters, here's their exact words.

This year’s musical lineup features some of the very best emerging artists from the Pacific North West including Chastity Belt, The Comettes, Broken Water, Dude York, and The Shivas!

Along with kick ass music, Penumbra Beer Bash has assembled a beer lineup featuring some of the most well respected breweries from Oregon and Washington. 26 breweries, 2 cideries, and 1 kombuchary will pour over 60 beers, including at least 10 unique Randall offerings available to VIP ticket holders. Penumbra guests will also be able to choose from several different food trucks and a hot dog vendor to help soak up the suds.
