A few months ago this writer had an opportunity to visit Colorado to attend the Great American Beer Festival. During the time spent in between sharing laughs and thoughts with festival goers - I had a chance to sit down with Left Hand's VP of Operations Chris Lennert. On a brisk Thursday night Chris shared some special information regarding their latest releases. Coming (hopefully) soon, Left Hand has released two new additions to their Nitro series beers.
Following the tremendous success of Milk Stout Nitro, Left Hand has developed two more bottled Nitrogen beers from their popular draft Nitro series. “The inspiration for Milk Stout Nitro came from the desire to have a draught experience at home,” said Chris Lennert, VP of Operations. “The MSN six pack has been a solid success – we had every reason to create a similar offering for Sawtooth Nitro and Wake Up Dead Nitro.” Similar to the classic CO2 originals, Sawtooth Nitro portrays nutty malt flavors balanced by herbal hops while Wake Up Dead Nitro reveals a trifecta of cocoa, dried fruit, & licorice flavors. Pouring hard out of a bottle, all 3 Nitro beers begin with a beautiful cascade and finish with a thick creamy head, crafting a super smooth experience.
Some might say that this was eventually going to happen. While others might recognize that as of this year Left Hand is over two decades old and they are inspired to celebrate. Still there are others that don't really care the motivations for widget-less Nitro-editions of their Sawtooth & Wake Up Dead Imperial Russian Stout.
No matter the motivator for this decision, most of the country you will have to place these two beers' status in the "Coming Soon" category, at least until 2014. Which also means those in Washington state will have to wait till 2014 to see if Left Hand is willing to share their two beers with the Northwest.
Congrats to Left Hand and my condolences to anyone who will be forced to wait till 2014, to grab a bottle of Nitro Wake Up Dead Imperial Russian Stout or Nitro Sawtooth ESB.
Living here in our great state requires great balance – there’s just simply too much to do! Soak in over 300 days of sunshine a year. Catch a show at Red Rocks. Climb to the top of 14,255’ Longs Peak. Catch an Avs or Rockies game. Drop into some fresh powder at A-Basin. Tee up on the first hole at Haystack Mountain. Fly fish the South Platte. With so many choices, how does one manage? We sum it up all in one word: balance.
Too much of any one activity leaves you missing out on another, always wondering if the other was better. A healthy dose of all things in a balanced way keeps your right brain feeling good and the left brain knowing it’s all good. We believe the same to be true with craft beer. Everyday we strive for that perfect balance between malt and hops, from our lightest to our darkest—allowing a unique flavor experience in every bottle. From a golden crisp Polestar Pilsner to a roasty, black Wake Up Dead Imperial Stout, our balanced portfolio of handcrafted ales & lagers will keep your mind and your palate in a happy state of equilibrium. Now, we can talk about our beers all day, but we’d rather sit back and drink one with you. Next time you’re in town, swing by our Tasting Room for a tour, a few pints, and a great deal of balanced befuddlement about life. See you soon!
