Both the Washington Beer Commission Winter Fest and the Portland Holiday Ale Festival have concluded. But this shouldn't stifle your enthusiasm to sample other Winter-inspired beers. A few weeks ago Portland's Hopworks Urban Brewpub announced the release of two new beers.

A fortifying tonic for the People! Rich and smooth, Motherland is as black as a Siberian winter night but warming enough to weather it. Aromas of anise and cherry mingle with bittersweet chocolate flavors and a warming, spicy finish. Answer the call and raise a glass to the Motherland.

At 9.8% ABV this beer should compliment camp fires, sledding in the mountains, or after you have cut down that special Christmas tree.

Additional specifications

  • 9.8% ABV
  • 63 IBU
  • 24.5 Plato

Hopworks Belgian Tripel is delightfully fruity and deceptively drinkable. Lemon and banana esters lead to a refreshingly dry, peppery and effervescent finish. Drink like a Monk!

At 8.7% ABV this sipper will pair well with Christmas poultry, dressing / stuffing, esoteric cheeses, or by itself while hanging out with friends.

Additional specifications

  • 8.7% ABV
  • 18 IBU
  • 18 Plato

Be on the lookout for Belgian Tripel or Motherland Russian Imperial Stout, wherever you find Hopworks' other beers.

Cheers
