There’s still time for you and your friends (or family) to head out to Elizabeth Caruthers Park (3508 SW Moody Ave, Portland, OR 97239) for this year’s Cider Summit.
Sponsored by SBS Imports, the Seattle Beer Collective, and presented by Barbur World Foods & Bushwhacker Cider, this 21 and over event features over 104 ciders from 29 cideries. In fact this year’s lineup of ciders includes 5 states and 6 counties. For those of you who live in the 503 or 541 area codes, there will be 48 ciders from Oregon with Washington offering 20.
“One of the exciting things about this year’s line-up is that 12 of the 29 cider vendors are new to the event as are over half of the product offerings,” noted event producer Alan Shapiro. “This will be a great opportunity to discover and sample many of the newer Oregon ciders as well as classic ciders from around the world.”
Another addition not seen in previous years will be the “dog lounge” hosted by Dove Lewis, “bicycle valet from Go by Bike, a Cider Summit weekend hotel package from The Westin Portland, and expanded food selections.
Adding to the list of “out with the old”, the Cider Summit has changed tasting glasses, exchanging the plastic ones from years past with real glass.
Finally you are encouraged to purchase bottled ciders, to-go, while at the festival. But please do not drink them on the festival grounds.
Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 (cash only) at the door and are available online via Stranger tickets, Umpqua Bank South Waterfront branch, and at many of the area’s leading bottle shops. Admission includes a tasting glass and 8 drink tickets. Additional tasting tickets will be available for sale onsite at $2 per ticket. Re-admission will be allowed at any time with event wristband and tasting glass. The event is 21 and over only. Dogs of all ages will be allowed on event grounds.
