As with most things in the world there is a cyclical exercise. We wake up and go to sleep. We eat and .. well you get the picture. Fall ended two weeks ago and already people are skipping Winter for Spring. Stop that! It’s January and there is nothing you can do about it … until March. So why no enjoy something from Diamond Knot.

With focus on the Winter season,  Diamond Knot is re-releasing their Irish-style Red Ale Slaine’s.

The start of a new calendar often sparks a desire to change things up - be it tastes, activities, attitudes or all of the above. With this in mind, starting mid-January 2013, Diamond Knot Craft Brewing will release its spring seasonal beer, Slane's Irish-Style Red Ale.

What the heck is a Slaine’s and is isn’t anything like Killian’s?

Short Answer is no. The long answer can be summed up by the brewery.

image sourced from Diamond Knot BrewerySlane's Irish-Style Red blends the best of Irish tradition with the boldness of West Coast style. The challenge was designing a beer that balances the complex malty sweetness, while still letting the Pacific Northwest hops shine through. We think we've come up with something that our customers really look forward to year after year, said Brewmaster Pat Ringe.

Slane's Irish-Style Red Ale is deep red in color with a sweet, caramel aroma, complex malt flavors and a very subtle smokiness and crisp, hoppy finish.

Style: Red Ale

Malts: 2-row Pale, Flaked Barley, Munich Malt, Chocolate Malt, Caramel Malt

Hops: Galena, Willamette

ABV: 6.6%

IBU: 30

Food Pairings: Wide range of food: chicken, seafood, burgers; lightly tangy cheese; poached pears

Re-stated above, this beer is available throughout the Northwest, between now and March.

As always if you don’t see it on draft or on the shelves at your local bottleshop / grocer, ask them buy some!

Cheers
