Sometimes it pays to subscribe to another writer’s website. This time around we have Patrick Orr of The Beer Nut Fame, for inspiring us. What is the source of inspiration you ask? It’s the Stone Vertical Epic mini-tap takeover.
Featuring vintage years 2004 – 2011 Bittercreek Alehouse is celebrating the final Vertical Epic beer, 12/12/12 by opening their cellars to those curious what an 8 – 1 year old tastes like when paired with the final offering in this unique beer series.
Bittercreek will have eight versions of Vertical Epic on tap Wednesday, covering the years of 2004 to 2012, with a bonus keg of the 2010 version aged in a french oak barrel.
… The final version of Vertical Epic — which Stone brewers have described as a Belgian Noël for the 2012 version — is the last in a series of 12 exclusive beers, released once a year since 2002 on the “palendri-cal phenomenon” day. That means Stone released their first version of Vertical Epic on 02/02/02 (Feb. 2, 2002), with the next on 03/03/03 (March 3, 2003), etc... The 12/12/12 is the last of the series.
Yeah, we stole his words. But there is so much more about this story, including a nod to Bier:30 and their keg tapping.
As with any good epic, herein lies the promise of larger-than-life experiences, heroics, and twists & turns as the adventure unfolds. Now is the time to enjoy it in a "vertical" tasting side by side with its ten Stone Vertical Epic Ale brethren! Each one unique to its year of release. Each with its own "twist & turn" in the plot line. Each one released one year, one month and one day from the previous year's edition.
