Event Planner / Brewery News: BC: North Coast Brewing heads up 2 fund raisers in BC, 6/2 & 6/3

image Admittedly this writer enjoys a relaxing Jazz session now and again. But usually it’s paired with a bourbon, scotch, whiskey, or well thought out beer.

So it was interesting to see that North Coast Brewing would be in Vancouver to help generate funds for the Vancouver Aquarium & University of British Columbia for Sea Lion Research.

Hosted by the Cellar Jazz Club (3611 West Broadway) and supporting two worthwhile organizations, you are cordially encouraged to stop in and listen to the Cory Weeds Quintent with their tribute to Cannonball Adderly (6/2) or the the Claire Daly Quartet as they present the music of Thelonius Monk.

Doors open at 6:30 with tentative music start at 8:00.

With sales of both CDs benefitting the education fund of the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz, North Coast Brewing is able to combine its support of Jazz education with their new effort to provide support for and bring awareness to the research of Steller sea lions being conducted by the University of British Columbia in partnership with the Vancouver Aquarium  at  the Open Water Research Station in Port Moody, BC.

About the research program:

Since 1993, researchers at the University of British Columbia’s Marine Mammal Research Unit have partnered with the Vancouver Aquarium to study the mysterious decline of the Steller sea lion population in the North Paciic. This is an ambitious project to discover the reasons behind the mysterious disappearance of 80 percent of the world’s Steller sea lions and what it could mean for the ocean ecosystem.
