Brewery News: WA: Silver City Brewing responds to winning 3 World Beer Cup medals

So shortly after the winners from the World Beer Cup were announce Bremerton’s Silver City Brewing sent this to us. We felt it appropriate to ‘copy-paste’ their words here.

Silver City Brewery, the Kitsap Peninsula, Washington’s premier Award winning brewery are excited to announce our results from 2012’s World beer Cup. In all Silver City Brews were awarded 3 medals, 1 Gold, 1 Silver, & 1 Bronze. Silver City Imperial Stout won gold in the American Imperial Stout Category. Silver City Winter Bock won Silver in the Traditional Bock category. Old Scrooge Christmas Ale won the Bronze in the Old Ale/Strong Ale category.

In response to learning the results Big Daddy had this to say. “It feels great to be recognized in such an elite arena as the World Beer Cup and makes me so proud of the team we have.” Don added that “I’m most proud of the consistency & continuity in which we continue to garner accolades such as these that allow us to be mentioned amongst some of the best breweries in the World”. Silver City Co-owner Scott Houmes added “Our brew team never ceases to amaze me with their stellar performances. I couldn’t be more proud.”

Although Winter Bock, Old Scrooge Christmas Ale & Imperial Stout are all winter time releases there will be a limited opportunity to try them when the new Silver City Brewery Taproom opens Wednesday May 16th at 3pm. All three will be on tap until there are gone for the year. Winter Bock will return late October 2012, Old Scrooge returns late Thanksgiving week 2012, & Imperial Stout returns January 2013. All three will be available on draft & in 22oz bottles around the Puget Sound.

Congratulations guys. You deserve it.

About the World Beer Cup

History of the World Beer Cup®

The quality and diversity of beers available around the world prove that brewing excellence knows no borders. Large and small brewing companies located outside of a style’s area of origin are crafting quality beers brewed to traditional styles. Belgian styles in Japan, alt biers in the USA, pale ales in Germany and bock beers in Brazil are just some of the interesting developments in the changing international marketplace. Traditional beer styles are not only celebrated in their native lands, but are now being shared, brewed and enjoyed worldwide. Consumers are discovering and enjoying a wider variety of both traditional and new beer styles, some brewed close to home and others brewed on the other side of the world. The number of new styles and style interpretations appears to be limited only by the creativity of the world’s brewing community.

As consumer choices expand, the availability of information becomes more important. With this in mind, the Brewers Association developed the World Beer Cup International Competition in 1996 to celebrate the art and science of brewing by recognizing outstanding achievement.

This global competition ultimately creates greater consumer awareness about different beer styles and flavor profiles while promoting international brewing excellence. Every two years, a highly qualified professional panel of beer judges honors the top three beers in 91 categories with gold, silver, and bronze awards. The World Beer Cup, often referred to as “The Olympics of Beer Competition,” is the most prestigious beer competition in the world.
