Over the weekend whiles we were celebrating the coming Apocalypse it was brought to our attention that Elysian’s Dick Cantwell and company are releasing a new series of India Pale Ales. Under the Manic Series label, Dick is proud to announce the first of three new IPAs for the new year.
So many IPAs, so little time...
Elysian Brewing Company is planning to make brewing life a little more challenging by kicking off its IPA Specialty Series in February of 2012 with Idiot Sauvin, an IPA both fiercely fruity and floral, made with New Zealand Nelson Sauvin hops. The beer has appeared before only at Elysian's pubs, and will be issued in both 22 oz bottles and draft.
Then in June will come Prometheus, an aggressively aromatic blend of Northwest classic Chinook, Cascade, Centennial and Amarillo hops fondly familiar to Elysian regulars.
Rounding out the year will be Valhalla, a reddish fall-into-holiday IPA using Sorachi Ace and Citra hops, scheduled for release in October. Too many IPAs? Bah, humbug! -Dick Cantwell
Starting in February we encourage you to start searching shelves through the Northwest for this uniquely labeled beer. Then in June comes the release of Prometheus IPA, before the arrival of Vahalla Sorachi an India Pale Ale infused with Sorachi Ace & Citra hops.
As always if you can’t find Elysian Idiot Sauvin Nelson Sauvin-hopped India Pale Ale, ask your grocer or server to get some!
About Elysian Brewing Company
The Elysian was founded in 1995 by principals Dick Cantwell (President/Head Brewer), Joe Bisacca (CFO/Head of Operations) and David Buhler (Sales & Marketing Director). Our first Seattle location, a 220-seat beer hall and our main brewery, opened in 1996 on Capitol Hill, Seattle’s most populous neighborhood. In 1997 Elysian was chosen to operate a pub and small brewery at Gameworks—a large entertainment complex owned by Universal Studios, Dreamworks & Sega. Elysian left this partnership in 2002 upon expiration of the five-year contract. A short year later Elysian opened TangleTown, an 80-seat neighborhood brewery/bistro. With a 3-bbl pilot brewery, Elysian-TangleTown acted as the brewers' test kitchen, fueling the creative fires and helping cement Elysian's reputation as Seattle’s top brewpub. The most recent addition to the Elysian empire, Elysian Fields, opened in August 2006. Perched next to Seattle’s two sports arenas, Fields seats 400 and packs the house at lunch and on gamedays. It is typical for us to offer over twenty different Elysian beers between the three locations.
