Festival Preview: OR: Deschutes Brewery’s Base Camp arrives in PDX, starting Tomorrow (8/16)

Portland, OR – As we continue to catch up on emails we spied this one in our inbox.

For most of us that don’t live in Portland, Seattle, Boise, it’s pretty much a given that you will not be visiting a brewery. Instead you are more than likely one of many members of a nearby pub, tavern, or bar; consuming everything from a Manny’s Pale Ale to a Black Butte Porter. And more than likely you being a literal consumer of Black Butte or Manny’s have pondered what it would be like to visit the brewery. Wonder know more, at least in regards to Deschutes Brewery.

About Deschutes Base Camp

Deschutes Brewery brings its Base Camp campaign to home turf for an amazing week of specialty beer tastings, beer and food pairings, and appearances by Woody, the giant beer barrel on wheels. Deschutes brewers, ambassadors and fanatics will be on hand to provide some in-the-trenches insight into our courageously crafted brews.

What is Base Camp you may ask? It’s a place where Deschutes Brewery offers beer fanatics a spot to “pitch a tent” of sorts – and find their footing with the cornerstone of Mirror Pond Pale Ale. Deschutes Brewery Base Camp Week is a celebration of Mirror Pond’s easy-drinking goodness, along with many more of the brewery’s passion-heavy, pioneering brews. The Deschutes Brewery team is traveling around to cities all over the west this year, providing passionate fans with a seriously fun exploration of beer.  Make the trek to Base Camp.  It all begins here…

So what does that mean to you? The answer is pretty simple, get in the car, the bus, or go with a friend to one of the many events featured starting tomorrow (8/16) and running through August 20th. So with further delay here is the schedule starting with a minimal breakdown before getting into detail.

Ladies and gentlemen! Boys and girls!

Come help Deschutes Brewery dunk all of our favorite unusual suspects, like brewers, beer writers, and bar owners. Our “brew-dunk-tank” will only be filled with water (as our attorneys advised)…but that means more beer for everyone to drink! Pints of Base Camp’s official beer, Mirror Pond Pale Ale, plus crowd favorites Black Butte Porter and Green Lakes Organic Amber, will be available to slake mighty appetites. BBQ brats and various entertainments, like a one-man band, will lend a classic carnival feel to this fine summer afternoon. Tickets can be purchased for the “brew-dunk-tank” and… Black Butte XXII and XXIII Reserve Series flights. All proceeds go to Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF). Each dollar raised buys one Water Restoration Certificate, which equals 1,000 gallons of water restored to the middle Deschutes River!

That’s what craft beer is all about!
