Beer enthusiasts searching for a true West Coast IPA need to go no further than Vancouver favourite Granville Island Brewing’s Brockton IPA. Brewed in the style of a Pacific Northwest India Pale Ale, this 2010 Canadian Brewing Award winning IPA is refreshing, golden coloured and well-hopped.

“There’s nothing better than enjoying this full-flavoured IPA, under the Vancouver sun,” says Vern Lambourne, brewmaster at Granville Island Brewing. “This is a perfect craft beer to pair with fried and spicy food – the bitterness complements spicy, fried flavours. Thai curries, blackened salmon and fish and chips are just a few of my favourites!”

Launched in 2009 for the microbrewery’s 25th anniversary, Brockton IPA has always offered full malt flavour, but now boasts even more hop bitterness than before. The finish isdry and balanced with light fruit aromas and citrusy grapefruit flavours. The critics agree with this flavour enhancement and have awarded the Brockton IPA with a Gold Medal atthe 2011 World Brewing Championships and a silver medal winner at the recent Canadian Brewing awards.

Brockton IPA will be the featured beer at GIB’s upcoming Brewmaster’s Dinner on May 11, at its Taproom on Granville Island. In addition to providing IPA education, Vern will be pairing the beer with a four-course meal. GIB’s Brewmaster Dinner is being held during Vancouver Craft Beer Week, taking place all across the city May 6-14.
