Anacortes, WA - While it's true, Oktoberfest's true starting date was back in September, that doesn't stop a few organizations from staying relevant by holding theirs in October. If we could pick one this weekend, we would suggest you drive up north to the naval town of Anacortes, for their take on Oktoberfest.

Coincidentally, the folks in Anacortes will be holding their FIRST annual Oktoberfest. Featuring over 30 Northwest breweries, at two beers per brewery, there will definitely be something for everyone.

When pressed for a comment, Rick Star, one of the organizers of this year’s first annual event had this to say about Oktoberfest.

"Through our business, we attend many beer festivals throughout the Northwest each year. Our goal with the Anacortes Oktoberfest was to take the best elements of each, provide patrons with a host of choices, and build the event into an enjoyable experience for brewers and attendees alike. Gauged by brewery participation, the event will be the largest Oktoberfest in Washington State, providing event-goers with an opportunity to meet-and-greet brewers from throughout the Pacific Northwest. We look forward to building a wonderful recurring festival-one that people will want to return to year after year." –source, Anacortes.org

Total cost for this 21 and over event is $20, which gets you a souvenir 4oz cup , plus six tokens. If you want to purchase more you only have to come up with $1.50 for each additional 4oz taster token. Tickets are still on sale through Brown Paper tickets as well as at the door.

Don't forget to vote during the evening in the "People's Choice Award" for best brewery during the festival. To sweeten the deal the folks putting on the festival will giving one lucky person a return trip back to the town.

Afterwards if you want to record the moment or show your support for your favorite brewery, you can pick up some merchandise that they will be bringing along with them.
