Portland, OR – While tradition dictates that Oktoberfest, despite its naming, should fall on October, the festival actually begins in September. During this time we are reminded of the pending change in seasons, the earlier sunsets and course, the beer.
Although, they aren’t regarded as one of the destinations when one wants to sit down with an Upright, a Cascade, or a Block 15, Heathman’s is a restaurant committed to providing people with excellently thought out dishes, paired well with a nice Oregon or Northwest Wine or a locally brewed beer. But despite Oktoberfest, being celebrated in September, the restaurant is holding off until October for something extra special.
PROST! Raise your beer stein and celebrate Oktoberfest to help raise a roof for Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East. The Oktoberfest event, sponsored by The Campbell Group, will be held Thursday, October 21, 2010 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Heathman Restaurant & Bar. Tickets are $75 and include a selection of microbrews from Full Sail Brewing, wine from Westrey Wine Co., and traditional Alsace and German cuisine prepared by Culinary Director Philippe Boulot. Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East serves Multnomah County and northern Clackamas County. No other housing organization in the Portland/Metro East area offers a no-interest mortgage, giving Habitat the ability to reach out to families one step away from homelessness. Habitat sells the homes at cost, making no profit. Houses are sold below market value because of volunteer labor and donations. Families pay a 1% down payment on a 0% interest mortgage. Instead of being in a vulnerable and fragile economic position, Habitat families find themselves in a position of strength. www.habitatportlandmetro.org
