image Paso Robles, CA - There are breweries out there that for lack of a better term, fly under the radar in regards to filling out our "wants" list. Firestone Walker with its Union Jack, Parabola, and Abacus, certainly is one of those breweries that only the knowledgeable seek out.

If you haven't heard of Firestone Walker, then you have visited the many alehouses around the area. Heck they were featured at a massive dinner, guest chef'd by Sean "Homebrew Chef" Paxton, and featuring both Abacus and Parabola, if you were amongst the lucky few who attended. But most of the time the brewery is content, resting on the shelf or in a non-descript glass, allowing the beer speak for itself.

Today, it has come to our attention  that as a way to thank all those loyal fans out there, the brewery is introducing a special release program, Proprietor's Reserve.

With a tentative distribution (when available) in 22 ounce bottles (and a few limited kegs), the series focus on the more sought after beers from their brewery. Beers like Double Jack, a double IPA (inspired by the Union Jack IPA recipe), Walker's Reserve (a bottle-conditioned porter); Parabola (a barrel-aged Russian Imperial Stout); Abacus (a barrel-aged barleywine); will soon rest alongside their annual Anniversary beer, waiting for you to open your wallet and senses.

"Every brewer relishes testing the outer limits of their creativity and equipment,” said Matt Brynildson, Brew Master at Firestone Walker Brewing Co. “We have been honing these beers for a while, but I wasn't sure that we would ever produce them at any appreciable level. The brew team is fired up!”

And what better way to start off the Proprietor's Reserve Series than with their annual Anniversary Ale, now in its 14th year (eta, November). Following this will be their Double Jack and Walker's Reserve (January, and continuing year round), with Parabola and Abacus arriving later in 2011, as one time releases.

Firestone Walker Brewing Co. will also be sending its Proprietor’s Reserve Series east, said John Bryan, (aka Guardian of the good stuff) "Export" Director at Firestone Walker Brewing Co.

“The Reserve Series will be in States where we currently distribute (which includes New York, New Jersey and Virginia) and we are perusing other markets along the East Coast as beer becomes available,” he said.
The Proprietor’s Reserve Series will also be made available in Colorado, the first time any Firestone Walker beers have been distributed there.

“Firestone Walker Brewing Co. is a regional player on the West Coast, but we think that these unique beers have a strong appeal and a constitution that will support the travel away from our local markets.  The volume will not be large, it just helps save some of our loyal customers an East Coast flight to Cali.,” co-owner David Walker said.

As always look for these and the rest of the Firestone Walker beers on the shelf and if you don't see it on draft or at the grocer, ask them buy some!
