Concordia Cup Crowns Deschutes Brewery & Cam O’Conner As Beer Brawl IV (2011) Oregon Captain

image of Deschutes' "Portland" Brewery Head Brewer Cam O'Connor courtesy of PortlandBeer.org's Flickr page Portland, OR – The glasses empty, the livers punished, the results tallied, and folks hopefully third times a charm. For the third time in a row Deschutes brewery has been picked to represent Oregon in the Beer Brawl. Under the magical hands of head brewer Cam O’Conner you decided that Hop Henge Experimental Batch #8 was the best of the Concordia Cup.

This year’s Oregon Concordia Cup wasn’t without its drama as the event was once again tied with only a few hours remaining. But, after tallying up 579 taster trays, Hop Henge Experimental Batch #8 came out on top by only 6 votes. The unfortunate second place vote went to none other than Hopworks’ Ace of Spade 100 IBU monster.

So without much more celebration let’s reveal to those who was who on the taster tray.

  1. Hopworks Ace of Spades 2nd
  2. Laurelwood’s Green Mammoth
  3. Hop Henge Experimental Batch #8 1st
  4. Ninkasi Tricerahops T6th
  5. Cascade Imperial IPA
  6. Terminal Gravity Imperial IPA
  7. Rogue's I2PA 4th
  8. Silver Moon’s Hop-tygon
  9. Double Mountain’s Molten Lava 5th
  10. Widmer’s Deadlift Imperial 11. 3rd
  11. Caldera's Hopportunity Knocks T6th
  12. Beer Valley’s Leafer Madness

Don’t want to wait for next year’s Beer Brawl, you can stop into the Alehouse around September 15th (thru the 19th) for “Name That Beer”!

Congrats to Deschutes and Cam, cya next February!
