Boulder, CO – Year after year, another enthusiastic craft beer drinker seeks out the definitive beer that they either must have in their fridge, or at a minimum sample. Like all lists, this is one driven by you the consumer, and sometimes with results that are less than pleasing. Recently Magazine and public face of the American Homebrewers Association, aka Zymurgy, released their list of Best Beers in America. As we reviewed this list we stumbled on an interesting tidbit, only two Northwest beer (Rogue’s Dead Guy Ale & Deschutes’ Black Butte Porter).

However, more striking was that Rahr & Sons Brewing, out of Fort Worth, Texas; amassed 12 out of the 50 places. Considering this brewery was started in 2004, this is a huge achievement given the company that this brewery is sharing.

It’s worth mention that of the beers listed commonly found on the shelves, that aren’t from the Northwest (including BC), three (3) were New Belgium and Stone, while four (4) came from Dogfish Head and Sierra Nevada. There are others on this list but rather than break each one down, why not look below or visit Zymurgy’s website. Additionally, while reviewing the top beers in America, you can also see how your brewery stacks up in the brewery rankings, beer portfolio, and spirit of homebrew.
