Seattle, WA – Last night while everyone else was basking in the warmth of another rain-less evening, Elysian Brewing Company’s Elysian Fields location along with head brewer Dick Cantwell, hosted a brewer’s night. The evening as it with previous “Brewer’s Nights”, was a welcoming to not only a competing brewery but also a fellow craft brewer into the state.
Featured last night was head brewer Chuck Silva of San Diego’s Green Flash Brewing along with nine of his brews and one collaboration between Elysian and Green Flash, dubbed The Red Queen.
Throughout the evening Chuck and Dick hung out at the bar and answered questions not only about their collaboration ale (named after the infamous Alice in Wonderland character) but also Chuck’s special edition Coffee Double Stout. When I asked him what made this so special he indicated it was made of real coffee, made using an blend of coffee beans ground up before being used as an “essence”. A great evening for sure and I look forward to seeing more of Chuck’s beers come into the state.
