(Oregon & Washington) I recall my first "Session" lager during a recent trip down the Columbia River highway, commonly known as Interstate 84. August 2004, while coming back from a trip down to Walla Walla for my High School reunion I stopped into Full Sail for a bite and to sample their beers from the brewery's pub. One of the beers that graced their taps was a lager called rather creatively, Lawnbrau*. The beer was crisp and clean with a slight hop character to it and I had to admit I could see myself consuming a pint or two of this while sitting out on my patio.

But like most good things that come out of breweries I assumed this beer would never make it out to the general audience. How wrong I was since the beer was re-released as Session lager and ever since then I and the rest of the country have been consuming this multi-award winning beer ever since.

"Original Session, with the bright red label, is a classic all-malt, pre-Prohibition style lager that reminds us what American lagers used to taste like. Named World’s Best Premium Lager at the World Beer Awards and winner of a slew of other shiny trophies, Session has truly earned itself a place at the bar. Not to mention the barbeque." –source, Full Sail

Today on of all days 'hump day' Full Sail announces the release of the yang to Session lager's yin in the form of the Session Black.

"Our newest member of the family, Session Black, carries the mantra of drinkability into new territory. Most beers this dark are so heavy-duty, you could eat them with a fork. Session Black, on the other hand, lets you have your dark beer and drink it, too. With just a hint of roasty chocolate character, Session Black is short, dark and totally drinkable. At long last, a dark beer that doesn’t drink like a meal." –source, Full Sail

Details are coming in regarding Full Sail Session Black Release events but you can be assured this this article will be updated as they roll in.
