(Idaho Falls, ID) Held since 1997 the North American Brewer’s Association awards ceremony is probably one of the least advertised and craft beer award shows in existence. To those in the industry however this another year and an opportunity to present their beers in competition with breweries from East, Midwest and the West Coast. As luck would have it though several of the host state’s breweries (and a winery) took home medals for their submissions.

The North American Brewers Association TM was founded in late 1996.  Since that date, NABA has undertaken the organizational development of corporate policies, procedures, memberships, as well as the sanctioning of beer awards, beer festivals, and a beer judging and evaluation course. NABA has over 40 members. –source, the NABA’s bio page

All told six gold and six bronze were given to Idaho craft brewers, with one given  to a local winery for their mead. Highlights of those available in WA, were Laughing Dog winning two bronze medals one for their Alpha Dog IPA and the other for their Cream Ale. Another brewery with a reason to gloat is Grand Teton with three out of the six gold medals and one bronze for their Double Vision Doppel Bock.

Additionally in case you missed out this year, the 15th Annual Mountain Brewer’s festival was held the same weekend. Just as in previous year’s the festival generated through admission and drink ticket purchases, money toward local charities. Those that were there I am sure had a blast and to those that missed it I am sure you will have another chance come next year to visit the grounds of Sandy Downs.

I know that some of you are curious on the winners from the host state so without delay here they are according to medal won. On a side note for WA in case you are curious Grand Teton will be visiting the area come June 18th when they are guest brewery at Beveridge Place Pub in Seattle. I think I might swing in and say hello and congratulate them (Grand Teton) for receiving recognition from their peers.

By the way if you are looking for results for Washington, head over to Washington Beer blog as they have included a comprehensive list of winners from the Evergreen state.

Cheers,
