Recently I heard grumblings that this beer has been over-hyped to the point of being a potential let down and I feel that is a bit of an over exaggeration. Russian River I find doesn’t use catch phrases like “… brewed from hops harvested at the foot of an active volcano… “ or “we use oak barrels that are aged with the tears of unhappy children.” Instead Russian River let its reputation and its line of beers speak for themselves ultimately forcing you the consumer to decide.

I had a chance to finally try this beer out of the bottle last night at Naked City Taphouse (and soon Brewery) and I thought this was neither over-hyped or over-priced (at $9.00 for 12 ounces). I found when I compared this to other such wonderful sours, that I couldn’t really decide on which sour wood aged, wild beer was the best. In the end I would ask you to go down to Brouwer’s tonight at 6:00 PM PST and try it for yourself. Oh and bring at least $20.00 in case you change your mind and want to go back for seconds.
