2 PM PST Water Street Restaurant and Brewery Port Townsend, WA
Folks, I just received word that Water Street Brewing (see, Port Townsend, WA) is in need of sustainable funds in order to keep their restaurant and brewery up and running.
“We're hosting a silent auction on Saturday, March 8th to help us keep the doors open. Already we've received tremendous support from the community of Port Townsend and all who have participated in the revelry that Water Street Brewing has become known
for during the last five years.” –source, Water St. Newsletter
For those of you not familiar with Pt. Townsend, it is mostly looked to as a tourist destination in the warmer months. Because of this, the town is relatively quiet during the Fall and Winter. It is not all that uncommon to see in the census reports that 25% of the citizens of the town are artists in one craft or another. Combine this with the current climate with job losses in every sector and the nearby paper mill downsizing its workforce and you have a recipe for tight budgets, and some business shuttering their doors.
“We are still in need of support …” and “… are requesting donations from any of those who may be able to help our cause. Your donation, whether it be a good or service, piece of art or other collectible, will be auctioned off Saturday, March 8thwith all of the proceeds going to aide Water Street Brewing during this critical time.” –source, Water St. Newsletter
Back in January when I was there for Strange Brewfest (see, Google topic search) I spoke to Nina about the ‘Sale’ that was posted on Craigslist and it has done nothing but complicate her and her partners business status in the community. They have made steps to try and keep the brewery and the restaurant afloat (closing on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, which are their slowest nights) but in the end its going to be support from craft beer enthusiasts such as yourself to help save this Washington brewery.
“We've also decided to publicly offer shares in the business, so it truly becomes your extended living room.” –source, Water St. Newsletter
I have posted the address and a link to their website and the auction page for you to go to in order to get more information on the services being offered at this silent auction. Please help with what you can in order to assist Nina, Mark, Skip, and the rest of the staff at Water Street to help them stay afloat.
“Starts at 2PM. Enjoy Live Music, and a fabulous
selection of items from local businesses, artists, friends”
