Press Release

Seattle … Ladd & Lass Brewing is excited to be throwing a party on Saturday, 1/7, for  our very first anniversary! It’s been an incredible year and we want to celebrate with all the good folks we  have had the pleasure of meeting since opening.

To kick off the celebrations, L&L will be releasing two beers at the party: Year One, an English barleywine, and The Pale Project, an American pale ale. Packed with incredible aromas of bready malt, toasty biscuit,  and delightfully rich caramel and toffee, Year One is a liquid love letter to everyone who has supported  us this past year. Anyone already familiar with our draft offerings, will know that The Pale Project is a  beer near and dear to our hearts. What started off as a pursuit of the “perfect pale” by three homebrew loving friends—Shawn Miller, co-owner of Micro Homebrew Tony Ochsner, and L&L brewer Nick Ladd—is  now (what we hope) a fitting tribute to one of its original collaborators. Brewed in honor of Shawn, L&L’s  biggest supporter and loudest advocate, a portion of proceeds from sales of the pale will be donated to  the Cascadia College Foundation to help fund the Shawn Miller Memorial Scholarship for First Generation  Students. Both beers will be available on draft and in 16-oz cans.

Carbon Pop Food Truck and Lovely & Dapper Desserts will be on hand from 4–7pm with their savory  burgers and delicious tin can cakes, respectively. There will also be fun and games to round out the eating  and drinking. As with all L&L celebrations, there will be a coloring contest! Prizes will be awarded to the top  3 vote-getters. And Kodi Sershon, the illustrator behind our Baba Yaga-inspired Deprived of Light beer label,  will be joining us to create custom, hand-drawn portraits of our party guests.

Last, but certainly not least, L&L will be launching their Can Club at the anniversary party. Benefits of the  $200 annual membership include (12) 4-packs and discounts on draft pours, beer-to-go, and merchandise.  More information and Can Club sign-ups will be available at the party.

About Ladd & Lass Brewing

Ladd & Lass Brewing is a labor of love from husband-and-wife team, Nick Ladd and Jessie Quan. Located  in Seattle’s University District, L&L is focused on brewing a diverse roster of beer styles that resonates with  beer lovers and non-beer lovers alike.

The L&L taproom is a gathering place for all. Kid- and dog-friendly, the taproom is easily accessible from  the U District Light Rail Station, several bus lines, and I-5. Offerings include non-beer and non-alcoholic  beverages, shuffleboard, KLASK, and plenty of other great games!

15th Anniversary at Brouwer's Cafe

Brouwer's_Logo.png

Holy shit, we’re turning 15. While it could be warranted to talk about what we’ve strived to provide for the beer community and how, after 15 years, we are still committed to the mission of providing one of the very best venues in the Pacific Northwest to enjoy beer, it isn’t our style to sit back and rest on our laurels. It is a time to reflect and then look forward.

We want to say thank you.

Thank you to every person who has ever stepped foot into Brouwer’s to enjoy a craft we love so dearly. Thank you to every guest who’s asked a question, tried a new beer or style, made a bad joke, become a regular, pre-gamed for your flight, spent your lunch break here, etc. What we mean to say is this: we couldn’t and wouldn’t be here with each and every one of you. We’ve changed a little over the years as we’re tried to meet the needs of beer lovers, whiskey drinkers, quick lunch eaters, and people who just casually walked in. We’ve tried to always do our best. This anniversary is for you; all of you.

Thank you to our present and past employees. We can still open our doors because of your dedication to craft beer, Belgian cuisine, and customer service. Not all of our relationships ended amicably, but at least a story or two from each of your time here still gets passed on; you are still part of this place. This anniversary is for you; all of you.

Thank you to all the brewers, distillers, brand reps, purveyors, and distributors for keeping us in stock of all our favorite beers, spirits, and food items. Your tireless, and often overlooked, work makes our jobs here so much easier. Without your dedication to quality, this place wouldn’t be thought of in the same light. Not nearly. This anniversary is for you; all of you.

And maybe most importantly, thank you to Vern. For over 15 years, he has provided many of us with a place to call home. Never one to micro-manage and always one to praise, you will not find a better business owner to work for. The Seattle beer community is a stronger place thanks to you and Bonney’s vision to take a Belgian-style bier café and make it into a world-class beer destination. The lineage of some of the Northwest’s finest beer establishments can trace its path through these doors and our little community tucked in the rainy PNW is all the richer for it. This anniversary is for you; enjoy it.

This year, we will have two anniversary beers. The first is a collaborative effort between E9, of the Tacoma E9s, and Holy Mountain, two of the finest producers of craft beer the country has to offer. The beer will be a sour rosé-style beer that is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. The second is a west coast-style IPA from the trio of Stoup, Standard, and Cloudburst. Both beers will be available to purchase from Bottleworks on the morning of the 28th.

In addition to those beers, we’ll have a few beers from each of the breweries, some of our past anniversary beers, and some other deep cuts from our cellar. If you’ve been to one of our anniversaries before, you know we also break out some cool beers from yesteryear.

We hope to see you out on March 28th to celebrate this occasion with us. We are so excited to be able to have the good fortune to turn 15 and start to plan for the next 15 years. Cheers!

Fifth Anniversary at Flying Lion Brewing

image sourced from Flying Lions Brewing

image sourced from Flying Lions Brewing

We can't believe it's already been five years since we opened our doors! We have changed quite a bit in that time, but one thing that remains true is the unwavering support we receive from our incredible Columbia City neighborhood, the greater city of Seattle and beyond. We are so honored to be part of Washington state's vibrant beer community and we look forward to raising a glass with you all for many years to come!

If you are in or around the Seattle neighborhood of Columbia City, this Sunday, then you'll want to swing into Flying Lion Brewing. Celebrating their fifth year in the neighborhood, the brewery promises live music, a collectible glass, and even special beer releases. Doors open at noon with the last cheers being held at 7 pm.

So why aren't you going? Maybe it's because the Seahawks are playing the Baltimore Ravens and you have a wicked tailgate to host. Maybe you have Halloween shopping to do, even though it's 15 days to the big day. Who knows?! But for those who either don't have shopping to do or a football to watch, the crew at Flying Lion hope you stop in. Either way, the brewers, ownership, and staff are flabbergasted how quickly the time passed.

So, you've committed to showing up now what? Let's start with the beers, namely Imperial Rye Stout, a (rumored) Rye Wine, and the glassware. Complimenting the beers, The Last Minute Maybes show up at 3 pm before departing the stage for Reposado at 5 pm.

Bring your kids, bring yourself, bring your friends for this all-ages show but bring your ID if you plan on drinking beer. And as always the main taproom will be open till Midnight, in case you want to swing in after Halloween shopping or the Seahawks game.

Flying Lion Brewing is located at 5041 Rainier Avenue South at # 106 in Seattle's Columbia City neighborhood. For more information on the party visit https://www.facebook.com/events/389047842044293/ or for more information on the brewery including hours and a current draft, list visit https://flyinglionbrewing.com/.

About Flying Lion Brewing

Flying Lion is a family operation in Columbia City, Seattle, conceived by four beer-loving brothers and our parents. It all started with root beer batches in the basement and dinner-table discussions about beer flavors and hop utilization. Years, beers, and many late nights later, we built the brewery we’d always dreamed of right here in south Seattle.

After opening in 2014, we’ve welcomed a few more craft-beer-loving people to the team, grown out of some of our old 3 bbl fermentors, added a bunch of taps, and started shipping our kegs around the city. We hope you’ll join us soon on this adventure we call Flying Lion Brewing!

UPDATE: A misprint of this article made a reference to a brewery called Five Lions in both the headline and the body of this story. The name has since been corrected to Flying Lion.

Anniversaries are like birthdays. They are significant because it celebrates another year associated with an accomplishment be it negative or positive. They have often been associated with weddings, another year of business, or the occasional Super Bowl win (*yeah, we're looking at your Seahawks). Today, we are here to talk about another year for founders (and co-owners) Charles and Rose Ann Finkel); co-owners Drew Gillespie, Patti Baker, and Chef Gary Marx. It's also, for many who have relied on Pike Brewing Company, a time to celebrate a brewery and restaurant which has weathered multiple recessions, earthquakes, and personal setbacks. Welcome to Pike Brewing Company's 30th Anniversary.

Starting this September, in collaboration with brewers both past and current, Pike Brewing Company developed and is releasing Reunion IPA. Featuring Pilsner malt from Skagit Valley Malting, Reunion was brewed with classic and next-generation hops; including El Dorado, Centennial, and Warrior. Taking a page out of co-owner Charles Finkel’s hallowed history, the brewery selected "Charlie’s Fist Bump", a yeast-strain from White Labs which honors the father of DIY brewing and friend to many Pike Alumni - Charlie Papazian. The end result, according to the brewers in attendance, is a beer that will have a floral profile with notes of pineapple, grapefruit citrus, and stone fruit.

The brewery also invites all to stop into the Pike Pub, Tankard & Tun, and the Museum Room; in celebration of the brewery's 30th Anniversary - October 17th. Leading up and following, October 17th, the brewery will feature a "30 Beer for 30 Years" punch card with an offer to receive a "varsity-inspired Pike sweatshirt" (worth over $80, and fulfillment good through December 31st, 2019). Featured that day, the brewery turns back the clock to 1989 by serving up pints of their classics (including Pike Place Pale, Pike XXXXX Stout, IPA, and Reunion IPA) for $2.50; all while complimented by live music throughout the day.

Those wishing to learn more about Pike Brewing Company's history, are encouraged to follow them on Twitter as they tag specific tweets with #Pike30 or #MakeBeerHistory. For more information, visit https://www.pikebrewing.com/pike-reunion-ipa to learn more about Reunion IPA and https://www.pikebrewing.com/ for updates, hours, and more. Pike Brewing Company, The Pike Pub, Tankard & Tun, and the Museum are all located at or near 1415 1st Ave, Seattle, WA 98101.

About Pike Brewing Company

Pike Brewing Company is an independent craft brewery founded in 1989 by craft beer pioneers Charles and Rose Ann Finkel. Located in Seattle's iconic Pike Place Public Market neighborhood, Pike Brewing Company is home to two restaurants, The Pike Pub and Tankard & Tun.

Rooftop Brew Co. invites you to party with us! Come celebrate good beer and good friends at our tap room, 1220 W. Nickerson St., on Saturday, August 10 from 12pm - 12am. We will be featuring an expanded tasting room using the parking lot next door (thanks to our friends at Greenhome Solutions), food from SoSo Good and Theo's Gyros, ice cream and treats from Street Treats, cornhole as well as live music all day long! This will be an all ages event with face painting and sidewalk chalk for the little ones.

In addition, we will have our Gateway Hazy Pale in cans again! Easy to drink and full of citrus flavor and aroma, this is Rooftop’s “hoppy” beer for people who “don’t like hoppy beers,” designed to help you appreciate the hops without all of the bitterness. We'll also have our Gateway Creamsicle on nitro! Same great beer as the Gateway Hazy... with orange zest and vanilla bean added!

In addition to the awesome swag we already have in the taproom, we will have block party logo tanks and tees, and special limited edition glitter logo tank tops!

We love to help out good causes throughout the year with our ongoing Beer Trumps Hate campaign, and we're turning this into another event to do good for the community. We will be raising money for Seattle Humane, and they will be here that day with a few dogs that will hopefully go home with some of you (and return to Rooftop many more times)!

Think Twice DUI Prevention will be on site as well. We fully support safe drinking, and are happy to have them join us in creating a safe environment to do so!

Press Release

It’s that time of year again! Join us on Saturday, July 27th at Noon to celebrate another year at Bailey’s Taproom! We will be continuing our tradition of featuring a collection of our favorite barrel aged offerings collected over the past year! In addition we worked with Pinthouse Pizza out of Austin, TX and Aslan Brewing out of Bellingham, WA. Cheers!

PM To The AM Funk – Aslan: In January we visited Aslan brewing and tasted through their wide range of barrel and foudre aged beers to come up with the perfect blend that represented some our favorite elements in beer. PM To The AM Funk is a rustic saison conditioned in neutral oak barrels and then finally dry hopped with Nelson Sauvin.

Swankeny Street Purps – Pinthouse Pizza: Last month we had the opportunity to fly down to Austin, Texas to work with our friend Tom Fischer at Pinthouse Pizza. We came up with a beer loosely based around their GABF and World Beer Cup award winning beer, Green Battles. Swankey Street Purps is a west coast IPA brewed with a heavy dose of Chinook and Mosaic.

In addition to our collaboration projects we will be featuring the following barrel aged beers on draught both at Bailey’s Taproom and The Upper Lip:

Cider Riot – 1763

Wildcraft – Whiskey Aronia

The Commons – Flemmish Kiss

Logsdon – Peche N Brett

Casa Agria – Saison Sobrantes

Beachwood – Careful With That Aprium Eugene

Hill Farmstead – Anna

Crooked Stave – Nightmare On Brett

Upright – Fantasia

Springdale – Art Dekkera

Pelican – Mother of All Storms

Fremont – B-Bomb: Coconut Edition

pFriem – Imperial Stout

Culmination – Multnomah County Stout

Firestone Walker – Parabola

Approaching the first anniversary of their patio-enabled location, at 3412 SE Division Street, Little Beast Brewing Company invites you along with Salt & Straw in celebrating this achievement.

On June 14th, from 12 pm to 8 pm, the brewery will be joined by Salt & Straw's R&D (Research & Development) team coinciding with the three unique beer and ice cream pairings.

Roasted Strawberry Coconut Vegan Ice Cream paired with Dream State (Foeder Aged Ale with Strawberries)

More on Strawberry Coconut Vegan Ice Cream from Salt & Straw

Roasting strawberries does something truly magical. While our favorite Hood strawberries are already amazing in their natural state, roasting them caramelizes their sugars and makes them irresistible. We simply blend the roasted berries with coconut cream and churn in our ice cream makers. Yum!

More on Dream State from Little Beast Brewing

Aged for over 6 months in our Cabernet Sauvignon foeder and with 7 distinct microflora, Dream State contains 100 pounds of fresh whole Oregon strawberries per barrel. Full of lush fruit flavor, soft acidity and a complex depth of character.

7% ABV / 13 IBU / 375 mL

Sea Salt w/ Caramel Ribbons Ice Cream paired with Golden Stone (Oak Aged Ale with Peaches, Nectarines, and Apricots)

More about Sea Salt w/ Caramel Ribbons Ice Cream from Salt & Straw

We created this ice cream with Mark Bitterman, the owner and “selmelier” at The Meadow, the internationally renowned Portland salt shop. He actually wrote the book on salt, Salted, a James Beard Award winning cookbook.

We use their Fleur de Sel, which is made in Guatemala from salt pans that are famed for supplying the Mayan Empire at the height of its power. We’ve topped it off by ribboning in hand-burned caramel that we make in house!

More on Golden Stone from Little Beast Brewing

A blend of peaches, nectarines and apricots gives a luscious elegance to this farmhouse ale. Prevailing notes of vanilla, toasted French oak & juicy stone fruit.

8.1% ABV / 12 IBU / 375 ML

Double Fold Vanilla Ice Cream paired with Black Cap (Foeder Aged Ale with Black Cap Raspberries)

More on Double Fold Vanilla Ice Cream from Salt & Straw

This ice cream is called ‘double fold’ because our friends at Singing Dog Vanilla in Eugene, Oregon use twice as many vanilla beans when making it! They also work with growers in Papua New Guinea and Indonesia to find the very best organic vanilla, pay the farmers a fair price, and share a percentage of profits when the final products sell. They call it Fair Trade Plus+ and it’s tasty enough to cause the Wall Street Journal to name it ‘the new standard to beat’!

More on Black Cap from Little Beast Brewing

Seven distinct microflora and an abundant amount of whole Oregon blackcap raspberries combine to create a jammy, medium-bodied earthy ale with bright acidity.

8.4% ABV / 12 IBU / 375 ML

About Salt & Straw

Our story is part luck, part strategy and part love (for ice cream, family, local foods, and other stuff we can’t mention here). I (Kim) have been wanting to open an ice cream scoop shop since 1996. I thought it would be nice to have a local spot where you could run into your neighbors, celebrate with your family, reward yourself…whatever! And I love exploring fun, interesting new flavors. After toiling away in safe mode working for several amazing Fortune 500 businesses, I moved back to Portland for love and found the window of opportunity and support that I’d been lacking to jump start my idea.

We craft wild, wood-aged and blended beer naturally with diverse cultures, including Saccharomyces, Brettanomyces, Lactobacillus, and wild flora. By harnessing the little beasts that ferment our beer, we capture their untamed beauty and produce farmhouse beers that are diverse in flavor and rare in character.

GoodLife Anniversary at GoodLife Brewing Company

For Immediate Release

BEND, OR (Wednesday, May 15th, 2019)

2,920 days, 3,854 batches of beers, and here we are about to celebrate our 8th Anniversary. The beer industry has changed immensely in that time but one thing that remains the same is your loyal support and we can’t thank you enough for that. We’d love to celebrate our 8th Anniversary with you and have you join us in our biergarten for an afternoon of laughter, music, and good vibes.

Our 8th Anniversary Party will be happening on Saturday, June 15th from 1pm-8pm. This year, we are charging $10 for entry, which includes a free beverage, and is open to the public. The $10 entry will be donated to the Upper Deschutes Watershed Council. Their mission is seeking to protect and restore the two-million acre Upper Deschutes River watershed through collaborative projects in habitat restoration, watershed education and long-term monitoring.  Tickets will be available at the door the day of the party.

It wouldn’t be a party without music, so we are happy to announce that G. Love will be playing again this year! He’s excited to share his new beer and song, called “The Juice,” with everyone. If you missed last years anniversary party, you missed an amazing show. Showtime is still TBD but follow us on social media, or our website, for more info in the coming weeks.

We’ll be tapping some unreleased beers that our brewers made just for our anniversary. We have our 8th Anniversary Barrel Aged Blonde with Tangerine and Orange Blossom Tea, Oregon Berry Wheat with Raspberries and Blackberries, and Big Gulp Triple Juicy IPA.
